In English and Topic the Year 3-5s have been learning about the Pharaohs and also Ancient Egypt. This has been nice to link in with our Topic lessons aswell. To start with we have been learning about Tutankhamun and the discovery of Tutankhamun's tomb. We learnt about Howard Carter and Lord Carnarvon and wrote a chronological report about Howard Carter's discovery in draft then it was checked and then written in best with some typed up. Some can be seen on the display board below.

After this we learnt about the Egyptian Social groups and their hierachy with the peasants at the bottom and the pharaoh at the top. We put the children in groups and they researched a seperate social group and wrote notes for us all to write a factfile about the different social groups in the Ancient Egyptian period.
