World Book Day - Thursday 8th March

On Thursday 8th March we had World Book Day. It had to be postponed due to the weather so we enjoyed it a week later. It was a great day filled with fun, laughter and activities. The teachers all dressed up as Oompa Loompas and were very busy the night before preparing the school and turning it into Willy Wonka's Chocolate Factory. The children had no idea that this was going to happen until they came to school on Thursday morning.

We had planned a great day for the children and it was all about fun! In the Nut Room we had a short story competition, which was then judged and we had 5 lucky winners. In the Inventing Room we had diaramma making as well as a photo booth, and in the Great Glass Elevator Room we had lots of challenges going on including the Oreo challenge and the Malteser challenge. We also had a Chocolate Room which was where they tested their baking skills (along with their maths skills); following our Rocky Road Recipe. In the afternoon all the chidlren took part in a Where's Willy Wonka hunt which was very fun.

Throughout the day the Oompa Loompas hid a Golden ticket around school and if a child was lucky enough to find it, they received a small prize.

To end the day, we had a short celebration assembly where we announced the winners of the day and then relaxed while we sat and ate our Rocky Road creations.

We would like to say thank you to all the parents and carers who donated a £1 and helped their child with their costume. The money will go to a great cause for children who do not have access to books. Thank you again parents for your ongoing support! All the children looked amazing and we certainly had a range of characters. We had everything from Thor to Moana, Harry Potter to Captain Underpants and Matilda to the Snow Queen! Congratulations to Gangsta Granny and the Mini Oompa Loompa for winning Best costumes of the day!

In conclusion, we are sure all the children enjoyed the day and had great fun. The question is: Did the teachers have more fun than the children?
